Messy!

As part of his job my husband has to go into people’s houses. He’s always amazed at how messy some of the teenagers’ bedrooms are with so much stuff on the floor he can’t do his job. I think he’s actually scared to go into some of the bedrooms because of the lurking laundry and undies around the place. He’s never sure exactly what he might find.

I’ve always tended to pick up after myself, even when I was a teenager. I shared a room with my sister. She wasn’t as tidy as me and we argued. When my mother suggested we tidy our room, it truly wasn’t my fault. Really!

When it comes to my writing stuff, it all looks fairly tidy, but the sheer number of piles on my desk irritates my hubby. I tell him I know where everything is, but he thinks one pile would be best, or better yet, no piles at all.

How are you when it comes to tidiness? How are your children?

We would all fail the tidyness test….

I am organized to a fault. I buy every container or organizer I see. I thnk it comes from the fact that I was one of eight and every morning when I was a kid someone was looking for somthing. My kids are pretty neat I have provided them with a place for everthing. They have enough containers (LOL) for the entire world.

I’m not a total neat freak but I prefer to straighten up after myself. Right now there are dishes in the sink because my husband cooked dinner last night and I felt terrible (still do). And those dishes are buggin’. In fact, I’m going to go put them in the dishwasher right now…

And the kids! My oldest is pretty but the other two? SLOBS.

I can tell you where everything is in the house. I always pick up after myself and there is never anything lying on the floor.
I can tell you what shelf, what cupboard to look if your wanting something.

I guess I can thank my dear old grandmother for this, she was a clean tidy freak, so is my mother, and daughters. But at least when something comes up I don’t have to look for it and waste time trying to find something. lol

I’m anal retentive as my hubby would put it. So everything has its proper place. My hubby on the other hand is the only child I need at home. I pick up after him constantly. I can say it has gotten better over the years though. Have a great day.

I like things to be in order, or else I can’t find anything. But that doesn’t mean I’m not messy in some areas. For instance, I have way too much laundry piled up right now, and I don’t want to do it. I won’t!

What is it with men and tidiness? I had a boss once that gave me stern looks because I had piles of papers on my desk and like you, I knew exactly what was in them. Yet when you went into his office it was stark-nothing on the desk, no art work, etc. I often wondered what he did because it sure looked like he didnt “work” there. Needless to say, he didn’t last very long. He always said “My door is always open” and yet, he was never in his office.
My husband is a neat nik ONLY in his wodrkshop. Go figure

I am a pack rat and a slob. There are piles all over my house and dishes in the sink… on the table… next to the computer. However we do a big monthly clean where our house goes into guest ready mode, so it’s never too difficult to clean up. Plus I have a 4 y/o so at times it seems pointless to clean and have her come behind me and throw it all back into disarray. For example I cleaned the house top to bottom yesterday… you’d never know it to look.

LOL I’m usually very meticulous, but lately my house has been a construction zone, and there’s just NO POINT :)

I’m very happy to say now that the work is 98% finished, and come Friday I’ll be cleaning non-stop until EVERYTHING is back in order.

I know, I’m sounding a little strung out about it…I am.

Well, I’m with Amy–horrible pack rat, and somewhat of a slob. I do tend to pile things up to the point where it drives my long-suffering neatnik husband up the wall. Our kids are unfortunately showing similarly untidy tendencies, much to his dismay…

Sandra – a tidy room doesn’t necessarily mean an ordered mind or vica versa. That’s what they say.

Voronda – I can’t imagine having so many siblings. I had enough trouble with two. We used to argue a lot but we get along okay now.

Karen – dishes sitting around like that would annoy me too. I have a pile of ironing that I must attack this weekend. Hubby is on call so I won’t have any interruptions.

Suzanne – I should have told you the safe place where I put my car keys before I went to the US last year. I told hubby and neither of us can remember. It’s most annoying. I keep hoping I’ll find the keys…

Roberta – my husband has starting leaving dirty socks around. I’m trying to break him of this new habit. I haven’t had much success yet!

Kaye – I think if I’m honest I fall into the same territory as you. I tend to pick up most things but there are areas or things that I let go a bit longer. I tend to collect ironing, grabbing things as I need them. I really must attack the pile this weekend. It’s starting to annoy me.

JOYE – our bosses must have been related. My first boss used to go through the stuff on our desks and through our rubbish bins once we left work. I’d arrive at work the next day and find some of the contents of my bin back on my desk, then would come the stern lecture. Ay, those were the days!!

Amy – I think it’s much harder when there are kids around. My MIL is a bit of a pack-rat. My husband is the exact opposite and is always throwing things away. I think it was an extreme reaction to his mother collecting stuff.

I think it’s funny when he throws away stuff and then needs it six months later.

JK – that would try my patience. You’ll be glad to get your house back.

Fedora – LOL – your husband will be wondering where he went wrong.

I like to think of my home as cluttered but clean :)

I have piles of stuff all over – and I know what is in them all. It’s my husband’s and children’s stacks of stuff that bug me!! ha ha
