Happy New Year

Photobucket

Happy New Year! I hope 2010 is full of happiness and lots of good books for you all.

I don’t make New Year resolutions, but on Christmas day I mentioned to my husband that we really needed to have Christmas dinner on the beach one year and also to have a white Christmas in the Northern hemisphere somewhere. We’re in the research stage and not in a hurry, but if you know of a place that will have snow on Christmas day, please let me know. We can probably do the beach dinner here in New Zealand. The possibilites are endless.

Do you make New Year resolutions? Do you know of a place that’s guaranteed to have a white Christmas?

Hell, I’d go back to Yellowstone if you want snow on Christmas. Or Antarctica. Greenland, maybe? Iceland?

Yellowstone’s still my pick. I can’t get enough of that place.

Happy New Year, my friend. May we both see lots of books sold and lots of new readers fall under our spells.

You should be guaranteed snow anywhere north of the 40th parallel. In the US, you might consider Washington DC or Chicago. They always dress up nice in winter.

But if you make it down to Texas, come see me. No snow, but I will feed you.

I don’t make New Year resolutions since I make goals throughout the year anyway.

I live in BC in the Okanagan area and it is really really cold right now, and I am so LOVING it, I have learnt to just snuggle in and injoy every season as they come cold hot I love them all, today I am watching the snow doming down and it is so beautiful, a site to see.

I am afraid that guarantees of a white Christmas are somewhat hard to come by, but you have a pretty good chance in any of the northern tier of states in the US. We even had one here in Oklahoma, which is quite unusual–in fact we had our first ever blizzard warning on Christmas Eve! It was a pretty low level blizzard, but it was real.

For a white Christmas the State of Maine comes to mind. New Hampshire and Vermont are just a couple of hours away too. Guarantee–no–possible and probable–yes! No resolutions for me. I am lucky to remember my own name sometimes.

Susan – hubby and I loved Yellowstone during the summer. I remember seeing your photos of wolves. We heard them calling but didn’t see them. They’re one animal I would dearly love to see in the wild.

Maria – we haven’t visited either Washington or Chicago yet. Hmmm, adding to list. We haven’t visited the state of Texas yet either. My husband does like to eat. You might regret the dinner invitation!

Janice – like you, I enjoy all our seasons down here in NZ. I’m not sure I’d do well in snow if it was for an entire season though. I get cabin fever during our winters, which are very mild and have to go outside for a walk in all weather.

Raquel – thanks for stopping by. I think you have to really want to change before New Year resolutions even have a chance at sticking.

Carol – I’m sure guarantees would be pretty difficult, but we want to at least give ourselves a high chance of snow. We also need to be able to leave so too much snow isn’t good either. Not that we’re fussy or anything!!

Sandra – hubby and I love Maine. We had a lot of fun during our visit there and would love to return. Doesn’t Maine shut down for winter though? We were there in October and many businesses were closing down for the season and flying south to Florida.

Well we Wisconsinites DEFINITELY had a white Christmas!! We got a Christmas blizzard!! I made some resolutions this year too, my main one is GETTING MY BOOK DONE!!! (Well the second draft of it anyway, the first has been done for a while.) My second is getting into better shape for my health.

:grin:Happy New Year Everyone. I can tell you that in Upstate New York where I’m from, we usually have snow for Christmas and the next four months. I can’t wait for summer. Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow.

Happy New Years! I live in Leamington Ontario, a few blocks from the beach on Lake Erie. You are welcomed to come and spend Christmas with me next year. You could combine your picnic on the beach with snow.

I don’t do resolutions, saves being disappointed when I don’t keep them. I would try Colorado for a white Christmas. You can usually always find snow there around Christmas.

We had a white Christmas in Indiana this year (barely) but I believe we only have one 1/3 of the time. My sister in Colorado does often have one and of course you could always go to the mountains (do you ski?) where they have snow all winter. Most of my favorite places in the US aren’t likely to have one (San Francisco, New Orleans, Washington D.C.)

I only made one resolution this year–to keep up with my email. It’s an ongoing battle! Happy New Year.

A snowy Christmas on the beach?!?!? Not recommended…

Here in Nova Scotia on Canada’s east coast, we had no snow (well, okay, a few unmelted glumps here and there from the previous snowfall) on Christmas Day, nothing on New Year’s Eve, and now on the 2nd we’re deep into a major snowstorm that made this morning’s driving into an Olympic bobsled event.

The coastal areas above the 40th parallel are mild and even when we get snow, it doesn’t always stay.

Can’t wait to see where you eventually decide to visit. If you’re ever in my neck of the woods, please let me know! We may not be 100% assured of snow, but we’re 100% breathtakingly scenic.

    And Happy New Year, Shelley!
