Driving Me Crazy

Thursday Thirteen

I don’t drive very often because it’s not my favorite thing to do. I’m much happier walking or catching the bus or train so I can read or write at the same time. Today I drove to our local town to do some banking and pick up prescriptions. I’m firmly convinced most of the drivers on the road are idiots. I was pleased to get back home in one piece.

In honor of drivers everywhere, both good and bad, here are Thirteen Driving Quotes

1. Natives who beat drums to drive off evil spirits are objects of scorn to smart Americans who blow horns to break up traffic jams. ~Mary Ellen Kelly

2. Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead. ~Mac McCleary

3. A suburban mother’s role is to deliver children obstetrically once, and by car forever after. ~Peter De Vries

  1. Anthony North

    Loved these. I haven’t driven since 1984.

  2. Melissa Mashburn

LOL I loved those. I do not dive much either, but we have no public transportation here. I usually catch a ride with someone if I need to go somewhere.

  3. Jennifer Leeland

    Albert Einstein certainly was brilliant.
And I think it’s true. You never learn to truly swear until you learn to drive. LOL.
    Great TT as always Shelley.

  4. Tracie

    #2…this describes my husband perfectly!

I hate driving…..whenever possible I let my husband do it. I wish we lived somewhere were walking was possible!

  5. Kaye Manro

I can so relate, lol. I turn really bad when I drive. In my opinion it’s so hard to put up with most other drivers! (I’m such a good driver myself, lol)

  6. Elise Logan

Great quotes. I think 9 and 10 are my favorites.

  7. Alice Audrey

#8 describes my whole family.

  8. Sophia Parkwood

I live just outside Washington DC and I never really hated to drive until I moved here. People are crazy! Stay safe out there. Happy Thursday!

  9. Stephanie Adkins

These are great. I especially love #8. LOL Happy Thursday! *Hugs*

  10. Inez Kelley

    # 5 and #13 are great

  11. Adelle Laudan

Wow the quotes are good, but I’m a little surprised at the number of people who don’t like to drive. I always felt like the oddball.
    Great list . Happy T13!

  12. Tatiana Caldwell

    *laughs* #4 is so true.

So is #13. I swear, I scare myself sometimes with how irate I can become while driving. It’s like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde.

    Good list and happy TT!

  13. Maria D.

I so totally agree with #2
” Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.” ~Mac McCleary

  14. Helen Hardt

Oh Shelley, I mutter, I swear, I shout, when I drive! Lol.

  15. Megan Rose

I loved #3. Have a great Thursday. Hugs, Meg.

  16. Grandma

    What a laugh.

I mutter when I drive. I also mutter at my computer, my pets and myself, so you probably can’t draw any conclusions from that.

And you should have heard me mutter when my first comment disappeared into cyberspace!

  17. A. Catherine Noon

    Love it!

Don’t learn to swear til you learn to drive. BWAHAHAHAHA!

  18. Susan Helene Gottfried

I love to drive… usually. When the idiots aren’t out.

Despite loving to drive, I was thinking again today how pleased I’d be to give up my car and just bike everywhere. It’s a gorgeous day here, perfect for biking.

  19. Shelley Munro

LOL – I’m glad I’m not alone. I feel a bit better now.

Susan – It’s a bit overcast here, but I’m about to go for a bike ride. There’s nothing better.

  20. MsMenozzi

Ironically, I thought US drivers were the worst ever – especially in New Jersey.

Then I moved to Italy. OMG these folks are NUTS!

Still, I feel a bit better reading these. They prove I’m not alone – and not completely crazy myself!

    Happy TT!

  21. Mary

Those are great, made me laugh. I am the one who drives now. My hubby had cataracts and a before having surgery let his license lapse, so he has to go get it renewed but is in no hurry since I usually just drive him where he needs to go.

I do mutter alot when I’m alone in the car. I also talk to myself in the grocery store. I’m sure people seeing me think I’m a nut.

  22. Hazel

No. 2 is so true. I’m not a the best at driving. I also prefer to either be a passenger or walk.

  23. Heather

Great quotes. I think number five is my favorite!

  24. Bryn

    These are great.

I’m kind of a zen driver. But then, I’m also a ‘leave earlier, drive slower, live longer’ kind of gal…

  25. Julia Smith

I actually love driving and find it relaxing. But I’m a public transit gal to and from work, and sometimes recreationally, too. I catch up on a lot of sleep that way – and sometimes I even read (but mostly sleep.)
