13 Types of Citrus Fruit

tt_minimal3

Citrus fruits originated in the tropical and sub-tropical regions of Asia. They are acidic and the seeds of the fruit are covered with juicy yet bitter fruit segments. They range in color from bright yellow to orange and green. They’re good for us and delicious to eat.

I like all citrus fruit and gravitate toward lemon desserts. My husband can’t eat grapefruit because it clashes with his medication.

I eat way to much but love it

At least citrus fruits are good for you.

  2. Colleen

Never heard of, let alone tasted, #7, 10, 11 and 12. Right now I’m eating cherries and wonder where they came from.

    • Shelley Munro

I love cherries. I had to use Google to check out some of the citrus varieties.

  3. Hazel

I’m not familiar with 4,6,7,11 and 12; will google them. My fave on your list is 13.

We get a lot of tangelos. They’re very juicy and difficult to peel.

  4. Alice Audrey

Just when I thought I’d had every kind out there, you introduce me to some more.

    • Shelley Munro

I know. Who knew there were so many different varieties.

    • Shelley Munro

I like chocolate too. I think if you ask most people they’ll choose one or the other.

  5. Mary Kirkland

#11 and #12 are the only ones I’ve never heard of before. Interesting.

I too tend to gravitate towards the lemon desserts like lemon meringue pie. Or lemon bars..unless chocolate is a choice, then it’s always chocolate. lol

    • Shelley Munro

Lemon desserts are delicious! Very refreshing.

  6. Mr Munro

I’m partial to limes. Only because they are a great ingredient in key lime pie and margaritas;)

    • Mr Munro

      And mojitos!

    • Shelley Munro

Yes, to Key Lime Pie, especially if it comes on a stick.

I used to love Kumquats but they have become hard to find here.

Also, oranges, tangerines and grapefruit now make my ears itch badly so I stopped eating them. Apparently I have some kind of sensitivity to them.

    • Shelley Munro

Itchy ears would be horrid. It’s probably something to do with the acid.

  8. Heather

What Paige said, LOL. I like some citrus (hate grapefruit), but can only consume limited amounts due to their acidity. My T13: Arboretum Walk No. 1

Grapefruit upsets my hubby’s medicine, yet other citrus fruits are okay.

Hmm well you had me until 10, 11 and 12! I’ve either not heard of them or not tried them. I’ve seen Pomelo at the store though. Will have to try it some time :)

    • Shelley Munro

I had to Google them :)

Great list! I love grapefruit, but I have the same issue as your husband. I miss it so. I make up for it with other acidic fruits. Thank you for sharing.
