A Wii Fun

Hubby and I have discussed getting a Wii for a long time, but kept putting it off. During the weekend Mr. Munro rang me up and asked if he could buy one. I couldn’t think of a single reason why he couldn’t and he arrived home with a Wii. Our theory is that it will be good exercise during the colder winter months. We purchased the basic one that comes with the sports and have spent most nights playing a few games of tennis and baseball.

My favorite is the tennis. I luv tennis. In real life I’m not a good player. I have enthusiasm but no skill. With the Wii, I like the way I can serve and always get the ball in the right place. Not so much in real life.

I have a problem with my right arm and have to baby it along, even when it comes to writing. Playing on the Wii hurt it so I’ve switched to playing with my left hand. Strangely my tennis has improved. I now know what I’ve been doing wrong all these years!

I’ve heard that the fitness Wii is very good, especially the new Personal trainer. We’re thinking we might get that next. I like to cycle and walk, but don’t get much upper body exercise. Hopefully, the Wii will cure that problem.

Do you have a Wii? Do you like it? Do you have the Fitness program, and if so, do you like it? What is your favorite type of non-Wii exercise?

Congrats on your Wii. Glad to hear you’re having fun.

We don’t have one. Heck, we don’t own any kind of video gaming system. *g* The last time I played a video game was on an Atari system. LOL

Ooh, Wii is great! I love it. My son has a blast with it and the best thing is he’s not playing those nasty shoot-em-up or car racing games, he’s playing sports games and doing Wii Fit! (So am I)

I don’t have one of those because I’m not much of a gamer myself. But I do hear the exercise part is good.

We don’t have a Wii. However, my husbands younger brothers do. I’ve played a few games of bowling on it and really got into it. I don’t bowl because of my right wrist, but loved it on Wii. Have a great day.

Cold winter months? In New Zealand? You’re talking to a Canadian, here.

No Wii system for us. And my favorite form of exercise used to be dancing, but my knee won’t really co-operate anymore. So my second favorite exercise is the simple joy of walking. I love walking.

We’ve been discussing purchasing one ourselves for the same reasons. Probably will get one next month for our anniversary. Keep me updated!
    Hugs!

LOL… Oh, man, Shelley you need to stop over to my blog and see how I picked a winner for yesterdays drawing. Funny how minds think a like.

Yes, I do… No, I don’t use it. But its a great babysitter. lol

I love Wii…in fact with four teens in the house it was me who begged the hardest to get it, lol.

I love tennis, both in real life and on wii. I play left and right handed to get both arms exercised. Boxing can work up a sweat!

We have Wii fit, Wii outdoor adventures, and my favorite….DanceDanceRevolution. Now that one gives you a work out and is a lot harder than it looks. Plus, its fun to dance!

NJ – this is our first game. We’re having so much fun I wish we’d purchased one earlier.

JK – I think the shoot-em-up games would drive me crazy with the noise. But NO, I’m not getting old!!

Kaye – hubby and I are finding that we work up quite a sweat, although we both have sore shoulders!

Roberta -‘Like you I have problems with my right arm and I’ve been switching. That seems to help. Besides, balance is probably good. I’d hate to end up lopsided!

Julia – I know! I’ve been whining about the cold for the last couple of months. It was 5 degrees this morning. Brrrr!
I don’t think I’d survivie in Canadia. Give me subtropical rain any old time.

Amy – I think you’d love it. We do

Catherine – I read your post and giggled. Great minds and all that. I can see how it would be good if you needed some writing time.

Debra – the dance one sounds like fun. I thought the Wii fit would be good too. I think that will be our next addition.

Julia – I meant to say that I enjoy walking very much. Hubby and I try to go for a walk after dinner each night. We always use the time to discuss our days, which is really nice.

We bought the wii the same way. hubby called, I said sure and bobs your uncle. We set it up and being us that is as far as we got. I am going to start using it for the yoga. We bought some games but not enough time to play right now.
But I really do like the exercises

We got a Wii for Christmas and played the bowling a lot. I became very good. lol. I wasn’t so good on the golf! But I haven’t used it in months although all the kids played it over this weekend and almost smashed the tv with their enthusiastic serves!!!

  15. Shelley Munro

Jo Anne – it’s really quite addictive once you get started. As I said it’s perfect for winter weather.

Christina – I can see how an enthusiastic serve would do it! Hubby has to keep reminding me to stand back.

We do have a Wii, and we do still love it (we’ve had it for maybe a year and a half now?) Boy, we were pathetically sore initially (especially from the bowling and boxing) but now that we don’t play it quite as fanatically, it’s just a fun part of how we can spend time. We also got the dance pads and the Hottest Dance Party and the Zapper with Link’s Crossbow Training. They’re all pretty fun and slightly addictive ;) Oh, and we’ve avoided any TV smashing, but we do have to remind the kids and ourselves to make sure we have enough room–I accidentally bonked one of our friends’ toddlers on the head while serving once. Ooops.
