I couldn’t resist taking a photo of this sign during our visit to Ireland. Do you remember the wartime song – It’s A Long Way to Tipperary? This is the place they were singing about. It was green and quiet. I loved exploring Ireland. It felt like home because parts of the country reminded me of New Zealand.
And a random question for you – do you have Irish ancestry? I do on my father’s side of the family.
LOL. Over here, everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.
St. Paddy’s day isn’t quite as big over here, but the Irish spread out. :)
I saw your blog on Savvyauthors and clicked on the link because I visited Tipperary on my trip to Ireland in 1999 and have never forgotten it. If you’re old enough to remember the song, my hat is off to you. I remembered it, too.
LOL – my father likes the od songs, which is how I knew it.
I do know the song! No Irish ancestry, but English/Welsh on the paternal side; Norwegian, German and French on the maternal side.
You have interesting ancestry. I’m English and Irish with a couple of convicts thrown in!
On my dad’s side there’s Irish and Scottish. But it’s from waay way back.
Lots of NZers have English/Scottish/Welsh/Irish ancestry since we had so many immigrants during the 18th &19th centuries.
I honestly haven’t the foggiest of my ancestory. For all I know, there could be an Irish gent lurking in the wings of my genetic code, but nothing known lol!
I think sometimes it’s better not knowing :)
Very cool. I blush to admit that I had no idea it was in Ireland.
I didn’t know either until I actually met a man who came from Tipperary.
Why, yes, Shelley. I do have a bit o’ the Irish in me. My maiden name is Clare. I’ve done the ancestry.com research and enjoyed filling in some of my family tree.
Researching the family tree is fun. You never know what you’re going to find.
I’ve never heard about this place…Very cool
One tiny sprite of an Irish lass named Roxanna Quinn who married into my dad’s German line. The part of me that isn’t German is English from my mom’s side. Now Husband is the one filled with green blood :)
