This photo was taken at Bear Country in South Dakota. We wanted to make sure we saw plenty of bears and this is a black bear. As well as bears we saw bison, moutain lions, and otters to mention a few. To visit other Camera Critters go here.

Oh my gosh. Isn’t he majestic?
This is a beautiful animal and a great pose :)
He looks awfully close :???: I would have never guessed this is a black bear. He looks more brownish/beige
Oh, and I forgot to mention that it is a beautiful photo! Sorry
What’s sad is I live in bear country and didn’t see my first bear until 6 years ago when we were visiting his aunt and uncle in Northern Ontario. We took a trip to the dump.
My Dad still thinks it’s sad, as he grew up in Northern Ontario, that his daughter didn’t see a bear until she was 26. LOL!!
What a handsome fella !!
Now that the weather is beginning to heat up, we are strting to get reports of bears coming down from the hills in search of food. Some have been known to come right into the city . I saw one on the Truckee river path a year ago. Sadly I didn’t have my camera with me!!
Carolina – black bears come in brown. blonde and black – an array of colors. I’ve no idea why they’re called black bears.
Amy – I can’t believe you hadn’t seen a bear until 26 years of age.
Karen – I bet you’ll get some great shots soon. I’d love to see bears fishing. That’s on my to-do list.
