I have author, Miranda Neville visiting me today. She’s celebrating the release of her historical romance, The Amorous Education of Celia Seaton, which is out at Avon on July 26. Her heroine, Celia is taming a dandy, among other things. Please welcome Miranda and read on to learn about Celia…
The 13 Step Guide to The Amorous Education of Celia Seaton
1. The hero starts out needing a good kick in the behind. Tarquin Compton is London’s social leader, famous for his fine figure, perfect dress, and poisonously witty tongue. Someone needs to take him down a peg, or three.
2. Celia Seaton is the woman to do it. He ruined her marriage prospects and she’s angry.
3. When she finds him the wilderness, having lost his memory and most of his clothes, she tells him his name is Terence Fish and they are betrothed.
4. Tarquin isn’t pleased, but “Terence” turns out to be a different guy than she expected: kind, brave, amusing – and really hot.
5. In fact he’s just the man to help her escape across the moors, pursued by the villains who kidnapped her.
6. Tarquin happens to have a naughty novel with him, which Celia finds highly educational. And you know what happens when a man and a woman spend several days alone together. There’s a reason they used to have chaperones.
7. They fall in love.
8. Tarquin gets his memory back and the real trouble starts. He goes back to being the rude dandy she hates so much. Or does he? Perhaps he’s changed.
9. A house party in a ducal mansion provides opportunities for late night corridor prowling.
10. We find out why Tarquin became the way he is – and how he discovers the socially unacceptable Celia is the woman he wants and needs.
11. We learn what Celia’s kidnappers want – and how it relates to the shameful secrets of her past.
12. We meet the villains, some more desperate – and more villainous – than others and learn how our intrepid hero and heroine foil them (of course) as true love overcomes all obstacles (of course)
13. The thirteenth point I leave up to you. What would you like to know?
Being kidnapped teaches Miss Celia Seaton a few things about life
LESSON ONE
Never disrobe in front of a gentleman … unless his request comes at gunpoint.
LESSON TWO
If, when lost on the moors, you encounter Tarquin Compton, the leader of London society who ruined your marriage prospects, deny any previous acquaintance.
LESSON THREE
If offered an opportunity to get back at Mr. Compton, the bigger the lie, the better. A faux engagement should do nicely.
LESSON FOUR
Not all knowledge is found between the covers of a book. But an improper book may further your education in ways you never guessed.
And while an erotic novel may be entertaining, the real thing is even better.

That sounds very interesting!
I hope so :)
I’m afraid that anything I want to ask would spoil the book. I’ll just have to read! Congratulations on the release!
Thanks, Darla, for not asking for spoilers. I might not be able to resist! Let me know if the book doesn’t answer you questions :)
This sounds like a really good book. I’ll keep an eye out for it.
Thanks Audrey. It’ll be available next Tuesday onward.
Sounds like a good read!
Thank you for stopping by and commenting.
Like the sound of this book, high adventure and romance. All the points have me really curious about this book and Celia secrets and how they affect her relationship.
Getting over any little problems that crop up from the past is often a challenge for a heroine. A good hero will always be there for her.
I think I need that book. :D
I think so too, Sidney. (And nice tat!)
Congratulations on your new release, Celia!
*hugs*

I’m never good at coming up with answers like that! I just want to read this book so bad! There is only two books I have been wanting to read this summer and Miranda Nevilles was one of em! Can’t wait!!!!
Aw, thanks Johanna, You’re always so good to me.
All great lessons indeed, it definitely leaves me wanting to learn more about Celia and Tarquin. Hmm I wonder who is really going to be schooled? :)
Hi again, Na! Those lessons are always a two-way street, aren’t they. I can assure you Tarquin has lots to learn!
Shelley: thanks so much for having me as a guest on your blog. 13 Thursday is a lucky day for me.
You’re welcome, Miranda. I always enjoy doing a TT.
Wow, what a great post! I’m very much interesting in learning more about these characters, and what happens! I want this book!!
Congrats on your new book!
After reading all the interviews and blog posts so far I really want ro read that book like right now! :)
Thanks, Danielle. Nice to see you here!
Oops, wrong button. Hi Claudia! (Danielle is further down the page ).
Good morning! Welcome to my blog, Miranda. Like everyone else I’m looking forward to reading about Celia. I had to laugh at #9 and the nocturnal wandering because I’m reading a book at present where this caused many problems!
I have a question for you: Is there one research book/resource that you find yourself turning to often in the course of writing your books.
Actually – two questions. What do readers have to look forward to next from you after Celia’s story?
Good question, Shelley. I have a fair size collection of research books and I use the library and the internet a lot. I love the fact that so many 19th century books are available from Google Books, and they are searchable. If I had to name one single resource I use more than any other it would be the complete Oxford English Dictionary, for which I have an online subscription. It will tell you when a word came into use, and gives citations to show the way it was used.
I’m doing revisions on my next book now. It’s called Confessions from an Arranged Marriage and the heroine is Minerva Montrose, who has already appeared in two books in this series. She’s a highly ambitious girl who wants to marry a politician with radical tendencies. She does not get her wish LOL.
Thanks, Miranda. I pull out my dictionary quite a bit during the day too. I couldn’t do without it!
A woman wanting a politician husband is unusual. I look forward to reading this one. Happy writing!
I loved this book and I can’t wait to read more from Miranda.
Sounds like a fun romp. Congratulations on the new release and I wish you many sales.
Janice~
Thank, Janice!
“The Amorous Education of Celia Seaton” looks like a wonderful read. I LOVE your phrase IMPROPER BOOK. It sounds so genteel.
marypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com
Improper is one of my favorite words!
I want to know if there are any good strong secondary characters who may end up with their own book so we can learn more about Tarquin and Celia later?
thanks for the contest
The Amorous Education is the third book in the Burgundy Club series. Tarquin has already appeared as a minor character in The Wild Marquis and The Dangerous Viscount whose heroes are his friends and fellow book collectors. (Let me emphasize, however, that each book stand alone.) Tarquin and Celia appear in the next book, Confessions from an Arranged Marriage. It’s possible I may write stores for one or more of the Montrose brothers, who appear in this book – I haven’t decided yet.
This sounds like a great read! Thanks for sharing, and congrats on her Avon release!
