This advice isn’t solely for aspiring authors but is excellent advice for everyone. If you join an online group, asking questions is usually fine. Other writers/group members are generous with advice and suggestions. They’re helpful and open to sharing their experiences.
What you don’t want to do is rock on up and ask basic questions, the answers for which can be quickly discovered if only you’d taken the time to do a basic internet search.
Do your research first.
It’s also a good idea to scan prior posts because another person might’ve asked the same question. Oh, and read the terms and rules for each group. That helps big time.
