Since I’ve just returned from holiday I thought I’d use my Pacific cruise holiday as my topic for this week’s Thursday Thirteen.
Thirteen Things I Did During My Cruise Holiday
1. I tried Line Dancing for the first time ever.
2. I went to my first art auction.
3. I went helmet-diving in Bora Bora, Tahiti. I didn’t think I’d like it, but it was fun looking at the fish face-to-face with nothing but water between us.
4. I went to a series of lectures by a marine biologist and inspiration struck for one of my stories. The lectures were great.
5. I sat under the stars on a lounger, watched some recent movies on the big screen and ate popcorn. My favorite movies were Sherlock Holmes and The Time Traveler’s Wife.
6. I went to the Apple store in Honolulu and played with an iPad. I want one!!
7. I went to the gym every morning.
8. I took some Photoshop classes.
9. I climbed and descended lots and lots of stairs. It was 107 steps from the Patisserie (where I had my mid-morning coffee) to our stateroom and 140 steps to the Horizon buffet at the top of the ship.
10. I went to the casino and donated $5 most nights. Last of the big spenders, that’s me.
11. I met the captain and several of his officers when we visited the bridge. These days the security is high and security guards accompanied us.
12. I went to a theatre show every night and saw singers, dancers, comedians, ventriloquists and magicians. Some were better than others, but my favorites were the Princess singers and dancers with their excellent stage shows.
13. I visited 13 ports and explored Tonga, Tahiti, Hawaii, Samoa, American Samoa and Fiji. We also had two nights in Sydney and attended the Royal Easter show and explored the central city and Darling Harbor.
Your best holiday ever – where did you go?
That sounds like a great cruise. I’m envious.
Sounds like a LOT of fun! I’m trying to get DH to go on a cruise, but he was in the navy for years, and said he got his fill of the ocean, lol.
Actually, I think my trips to Hawaii were my best vacations. I really love the tropics.
Anthony – it was awesome. I’m ready to sign up for another one.
Marianne – I guess I can understand your husband wanting to holiday on land. The ocean is beautiful though. I adore Hawaii. All the islands are so different yet beautiful too.
Wow. My sister loves cruises, but I’m not too keen on the idea – I’m more of a mountains girl. Still, it looks like you had a lot of fun!
Happy TT!
Sounds like you had so much fun!! ;-) Glad you’re back tho’!
Sounds like a wonderful trip. $5 works for me.
Have a great Thursday!

Sounds like a great trip! I never go anywhere. *pout*
Cruises are so much fun, aren’t they?! Glad you had a good time!
*hugs*

You took Photoshop classes on a cruise ship? Wow, things have changed since ages ago when i took a cruise.
Sounds like a great vacation. I’m looking forward to the pictures.
Art exhibits are much more of a danger to my bank account than casinos. Glad you had fun! My most recently holiday was wonderful – a cabin in the woods ALL BY MYSELF. I only left to go hiking. A private dock upon which to write, my own sauna, and hot tub kept me very happy. I only turned on the satellite to listen to music and five days away from the world went waaay to fast.
What a fabulous trip. Glad you had fun!
My best vacations have been to Puerto Rico because I love to sit on the beach and watch the ocean come in and out and also because I have family there that I don’t get to see very often since I now live in the Mid-West US.
That sounds like you had a great time. I am not one for so much water though, lol. I think I would say my best vacation was when I was little and we went to Big Bear California. My mom and dad rented a log cabin and we bbq’s almost every night.
It was in the middle of winter time, so there was some snow on the ground and very little bugs anywhere to be seen. (Big plus for me lol)
My mom, fed a wild wolf one of our steaks. Yeah, I know huh! It was completely wild.
My uncle and his wife were with us, so we had a huge Log Cabin and I had alot of fun exploring it.
My brother had alot of fun too. He found a cabin that had a troop of boyscouts in it and spent alot of time with them. Then one night was trapped in the cabin when a Black Bear came up on the porch and sat there eating their marshmallows they had been roasting.
I heard some screaming, so I looked out my bedroom window and saw my brother jumping up and down on a bed in the cabin. Everytime he’d reach the window he’d scream, “Bear!” or “Marshmallow!”
The Bear finally ran off when a bunch of adults came out of their cabins and headed that way. But all the marshmallows were gone and the boy scouts were more upset about that than being trapped in their cabin by a Bear. lol
I can’t imagine what it would be like to experience all those new things, plus have a vacation. What a fabulous opportunity. The closest I’ve got to a cruise is taking the ferry.
My best vacation would have to be exploring the coast line from Washington through Oregon. Even though, I have been all along it many times, we took the motorhome and stopped at every place we’d never taken the time to stop at before. Very relaxing.
wow! sounds like an amazing holiday.
We aren’t much for cruises – DH had his fill of being at sea in the Navy. But what a great itinerary!
Sounds like a fab time. I would so love to go on a cruise. I’d say my fave trip ever would be a week in Paris during HS – we quite literally saw the city on foot – followed by a week camping in the Black Hills of South Dakota with friends.
That sounds lovely. I’d like to do a cruise someday, I think it sounds fun. We’ve been dogsledding in the Boundary Waters, to Galena, Illinois, and Philadelphia. Dallas, too. Next year, we hope to explore Britain, maybe London, the Cotswolds, or go over to Ireland and/or Scotland. Not sure yet. I love to travel, though! :)
WOW, sounds like such an awesome time! Glad you’re back, now you have me pining for my own vacation!! :)
Wow – that sounds like a form of heaven, Shelley!
Kimberly – I adore mountains too, but I can live with the ocean. All the islands we visited were volcanic so I managed to squeeze in mountains as well!
Paige – I adore cruises. I thought I’d be bored during the at sea days, but I scarcely had time to read.
Darla – that sounds like a wonderful holiday. All that peace and quiet.
Maria – I haven’t visited Puerto Rico yet. I’ve heard it’s beautiful.
Mary – your camping trip sounds great. I bet the boys talked about the bear and the marshmellows for months afterward!
Debra – I love that part of the US. It’s beautiful, and I could easily visit there again. I like all the trees too.
Elise – another Navy husband! I’m equal opportunity. I can take a sea or land holiday.
A Catherine – You’ll love Britain and Ireland. The Cotswolds villages are just adorable.
Your cruise sounds awesome!!!!
So good to have you back, Shelley!
Great to have you back, Shelley! The trip sounds fantastic. My best holiday (or vacation, as we yanks say, lol) — have to think on that one… I love Jamaica, also loved our trip to Hawaii. It would have to be between those two. Tropical breezes, the beach, relaxation — can’t go wrong!
My best vacation was to Banff Springs Hotel in Banff Springs, Alberta, Canada. The hotel was great and close enough to the town that we walked there to shop. The gardens in the town were beautiful. It was a wonderful trip.
Welcome back, Shelley!
Oh wow, your holiday sounds like it was wonderful. I’d love to go on a cruise!
Sounds wonderful! My best holiday was to London and Scotland w/ my bff. We had a blast and crammed every min full of fun.
I’m so glad you had a good time!!!!!
Sounds like you have a great time, and came home healthier than when you left.
Happy TT.
Janice~
